Bracketing & Rules

Contestants are randomly drawn by computer.

Rules:

The current rules of UWW will govern the event and the competition (except bracketing procedures). This event will use the new UWW rules. Tech falls will be a difference of 10 points for freestyle and 8 points for Greco.

University Division: Wrestlers from the same club will be separated. This division will employ double-elimination line bracketing with wrestle-backs to third place.

UWW Cadet: Wrestlers from the same state will be separated. This division will employ double-elimination line bracketing with wrestle-backs to true second place.

Separation Criteria at UWW Cadet Nationals will be based on previous performances as stated below:

  • Level 1: Previous Cadet and above National Champion (IN Style)
  • Level 2: Previous Cadet and above National 2nd - 8th (IN Style)
  • Level 3: Previous Cadet and above National 1st - 3rd (OUT of style, not including folkstyle)
  • Level 4: Separation by state

At weigh-ins and registration, when you receive your weigh-in card, please check to make sure that the level listed is correct. If it is not, be sure to tell the head table workers and the problem will be resolved.

UWW Cadets will wrestle two 2-minute periods as per UWW.

2017 UWW Cadet World Team: there will be a UWW Cadet World Team this year with Akron serving as the qualifier.  Best two out of three in finals at UWW Cadet Nationals.
