Bracketing & Rules

All separation criteria MUST be verified prior to weigh-ins. The highest criteria is printed on weigh in card under the "Separation Criteria" field at bottom of athletes's respective weigh in card. If you think you have criteria that is left off please contact Head Pairer at head table.

Once weigh-ins close separation cannot be changed.


ALL DIVISIONS:

LEVEL 1: Current All-Americans (regardless of division or weight) will be separated with the balance of athletes being drawn in and separated by state.

A current All American is defined as a place winner in the following:

  • 2019 USAW Kids Nationals GR/FS
  • 2019 USAW 16U/Junior Nationals FS/FW/GR
  • 2020 USAW Folkstyle Nationals
  • 2019 UWW Cadet World Team Trials

LEVEL 2: Separation by State

No true 2nd place for any division

The current rules of UWW, with USA Wrestling modifications where applicable, will govern the event and the competition.

This tournament will be line bracketed.‚Äč

Attractive awards to the top four (4) place winners. 

BRACKET CHANGES WILL BE MADE UP UNTIL 1 HOUR PRIOR TO THE START OF THE WRESTLING SESSION.  Please contact the tournament director with any issues (ie: wrestler missing from bracket or incorrect weight) by email at least 2 HOURS PRIOR to the start of the wrestling session or please come to the head table.  

FOLKSTYLE FESTIVAL REGISTRATION
The weight classes for each division are just for registration purposes. All wrestlers will be Madison Bracketed based on their actual weights. Wrestlers participating in Freestyle and Greco should target the desired weight class in those styles as the actual weight will be used in folkstyle to create group brackets.

Rules

National Federation of State High School Association scoring rules with USA Wrestling modifications will govern the competition. Additional Folkstyle Festival modifications include the following:

  1. Headgear is MANDATORY for all competitors Schoolboy age and below. Hairnets are not required at any age.
  2. Mouth guards are not required for wrestlers (even wrestlers with braces)
  3. Rest time in between matches is a minimum of 5 minutes
  4. A match can be started when a wrestler does not have a coach
  5. The double arm bar with sit out is illegal
  6. 16U and Junior Folkstyle Periods will be 2-1-1 for all matches.  All other divisions will be 1-1-1 for all matches

USA Wrestling rules governing ages, weights and match time will take precedence where applicable.
