The 2018-2019 Membership Year begins September 1st, 2018 and goes through August 31, 2019.
A wrestler, to be eligible to participate in the 2019 USAW Kids Greco-Roman and Freestyle National Championships, MUST HAVE PARTICIPATED IN AT LEAST ONE STYLE (Freestyle or Greco-Roman; folkstyle does not count for qualification) at their designated 2019 USA Wrestling Kids Regional Championship tournament (see Regional Information below) or obtained approval from his/her state chairperson. State chairperson approval must specify the lowest weight class a wrestler can compete at (for example, weight class from state Freestyle/Greco-Roman Championships). A wrestler may compete in both styles at the national championships even though he/she only competed in one style at the regional tournament. The girls divisions/festivals, held at some of the regional championships, are not defined as Regional Championships and thus DO NOT fulfill the requirements necessary to compete in the Kids Freestyle & Greco-Roman National Championships.
Also, please be aware that wrestlers are NOT ALLOWED TO DROP IN WEIGHT CLASS from the regional to the nationals. Whatever weight class the wrestler weigh-ins at for the regional (not necessarily competes at, but what the scale actually reads) is the lowest weight class the wrestler is eligible to compete at for the nationals.
Athletes MUST present proof of current USA Wrestling Membership Card (actual card or photo copy) at registration AND weigh-ins. If you do not have a copy of your USA Wrestling Membership Card, please contact your State Membership Director prior to the event. It is mandatory that you provide your USA Wrestling Membership Card Number when participating at all USA Wrestling events in order for your results to be correctly linked to your profile for the U.S. Future Olympian Rankings (click HERE for more information) and the Kids National Team website (click HERE for more information). USA Wrestling Athlete Membership Cards can be acquired from the State Chairperson or State Membership Director of the contestant's state of residence or online (click HERE). Secondary sports accident insurance is provided as a benefit of membership.
If you have lost or forgotten your membership number, please contact email@example.com.
USA Wrestling deems it necessary to ensure, insofar as possible, that transgender athletes are not excluded from the opportunity to participate in wrestling competitions. As such, USA Wrestling’s Gender Policy is based on the results and guidelines of the IOC actions.
Please read the transgender policy document in its entirety in order to understand the guidelines USA Wrestling follows in regards to transgender athletes competing at USA Wrestling events.
FLOOR PASSES ARE REQUIRED FOR FLOOR ACCESS. Coaches floor passes will be available for $10.00 only to those with a current USAW Leader Membership Card and are a minimum USAW NCEP COPPER certified.
All coaches that wish to gain access to the competition floor to coach athletes must have a current USA Wrestling Leader Card. All USA Wrestling Leader Membership Cards MUST be attained prior to the event, due to mandatory background checking. For a USAW Leader Membership Card, please click HERE. PLEASE ALLOW UP TO 30 DAYS FOR COMPLETION OF USAW LEADER MEMBERSHIP/BACKGROUND CHECK PROCESS.
Two certified coaches maximum allowed in each competitor's corner. To videotape any match at mat side, the operator must be one of the two certified coaches in the corner.
All wrestlers MUST PARTICIPATE in their designated regional tournament to qualify for the 2019 Kids Greco-Roman and Freestyle National Championships (or receive approval from their state chairperson).
