Events with United World Wrestling & Middle School Age Categories

Several National Championship events offer United World Wrestling (UWW) or international age categories instead of the standard USA Wrestling age categories. For these events, any wrestler eligible to compete in the UWW category will earn rank value in their USA Wrestling age category. For example, the 2018-19 UWW Cadet age group is for wrestlers born 2002-2003, so wrestlers born in 2003-2004 will earn value as a cadet and wrestlers born in 2002 will earn value as a junior.

Similarly, several Tour of America events that take place during the high school wrestling season offer a Middle School age group instead of the standard 14U and 16U age groups. This is done to allow 8th graders to compete in the events. The Middle School age group is defined as wrestlers born 2004-2006 plus enrolled in grades 6-8. For these events, any wrestler eligible to compete in the Middle School category will earn rank value in their standard USA Wrestling age category. For example, wrestlers born in 2005-2006 will earn value as a 14U and wrestlers born in 2004 will earn value as a 16U.
